Cabbage Detox Diet & Cabbage Soup Recipe

The cabbage detox diet, is one of the most unprecedented detox diet programs introduced today. The cabbage has beneficial properties that are said to prevent cancer, among other known diseases. Cabbage detox diet normally has a 7-day duration, or a full week of eating mainly cabbage combined with other ingredients that will produce a soup like consistency. This does not only flush one harmful toxins but also an effectively way to lose weight.
The 7 Day Cabbage Detox Diet - Short Version
Day 1 - Eat fruits and your cabbage soup. Drink plenty of water.
Day 2 - Eat vegetables, raw or steamed. No fruits.
Day 3 - Eat cabbage soup, fruits, and vegetables.
Day 4 - Eat cabbage soup, bananas, and a glass of milk to reduce your desire for sweets.
Day 5 - Eat cabbage soup, tomatoes and vegetables until full.
Day 6 - Eat cabbage soup and vegetables until full.
Day 7 - Eat cabbage soup and vegetables until full. Drink plenty of water.There are many variations to 7 day cabbage detox diet plan, so don't be restricted to this plan only. There are other plans that include meat and dairy products.
However, the downside of the cabbage detox diet is that it can prove to be a sheer nightmare for someone who is used to eating highly seasoned foods. Cabbage soup may be too bland for most people and some have complained with the boring monotony of eating cabbages for a week.
The cabbage detox diet also does not have much nutritional content, unlike other diet programs out there and contains large amount of salt that you would probably prepare. We don't recommend eating just cabbage soups all day long. We recommend that you put a number of nutrient-rich vegetables in the cabbage soup.
The Cabbage Soup Recipe
Ingredients :
- 1 head of white cabbage
- 6 Green Onions (Large)
- 2 Green Peppers
- 2 Cans Chopped Tomatoes
- 1 Bunch Celery
- 1 Package Onion Soups Mix
- 1-2 Cubes of stock (if desired)
- Carrots (if desired)
- Mushrooms (if desired)
How to Prepare :
- Cut all vegetables into small pieces and cover with water.
- Boil quickly for 10 minutes.
- Reduce to simmer and continue cooking until vegetables are tender.
- Season to taste with salt, pepper, parsley, etc to taste.
This is not the only cabbage soup you can make. Be creative and try to mix other vegetables in the soup. If the cabbage soup makes you sick, you should stop eating it immediately.
It is advisable to keep in mind that the cabbage detox diet is not for a long-term application. This is mainly because it is not sufficient enough to meet the required dietary allowance for an average individual. So if you want to detoxify, you can do it on a quarterly basis, or whenever you feel the need to.
There are some other healthier alternatives for detoxification such as eating raw vegetables and organic fruits. The basic concept of detoxification is helping your body get rid of the accumulated toxic waste in your system. So it would be best to keep away food products that contains an extraordinary amount of toxins such as animal meat, starchy vegetables, refined sugar, caffeine and nicotine, dairy products, and bread. This way you can potentially prevent the build up, and lessen the need to detoxify.
